Club Fort Med, Boljoon Cebu

Boljoon also known as Boljo-on is one of the oldest towns in southern Cebu and is known as "THE ONLY POSTCARD TOWN IN THE ENTIRE PROVINCE OF CEBU".

We just enjoyed a long weekend and to be honest one of the rarest this year, since most of the holidays fall on a weekend. Anyway, I and 2 of my close friends decided to get away from the city. Go to a place where we can have silence and relaxation.

A friend of ours who was supposed to go with us suggested that we go to Club Fort Med in Boljoon. We packed our bags and headed to the South Bus Terminal where we paid 135 pesos each as fare for the air-conditioned bus. It took us at least 3 hours to reach our destination, the funny thing is that Club Fort Med’s main entrance is located near the road where it goes curve. We had to hurry and get off the bus; one of us almost fell into the canal which was a little funny coz she screamed very loud that everybody inside the bus turned to look at her.

When we entered Club Fort Med we automatically sensed that we found what we were looking for a quite place for us to relax and maybe have a little videoke action in the evening. We rented a non air-conditioned room for PHP 1,000 but had to pay extra PHP 200 for the extra head.

While waiting for our room to be ready I noticed a shack like room that I took for a toilet to my surprise that was our room LOL. Once we got inside the room, I have to say the inside looked better than the outside, I guess the saying “Don’t judge a book by its cover” applies here. The room was clean and humble, had a bathroom / toilet, a bed, a window overlooking the sea, and an electric fan that I think was only for show, because the fan works but for some strange reason does not blow air LOL.

Once we got settled, we roamed and asked around to see what we can do in the resort. Aside from the beach there is also a swimming pool, but it really did look enticing since the water did not look very clean, it was not flowing, had a lot of SOSYAL Mosquitoes flying around. We stumble on one of the Filipinos original board game called SUNGKA and decided to play, and to be honest we had fun. It’s nice to do things the old and simple way. Once we got finished playing we continued surveying the place. We asked the owner (I think) if we can rent the videoke in the evening and to our surprise the answer was sort of a NO but he did it in a long manner by saying that the videoke machine is only for corporate accounts where the whole place is reserved. Bummer and absolute bummer, my friends and I wanted to stretch our vocal cords and cause havoc in Boljo-on, LOL. My friend asked “do you still offer snorkeling as stated on your website?” He replied “YES! But you have to provide your own equipments.” My friend asked again “What about boating or kayaking as stated on your website?” he humbly replied again “No, we don’t offer those anymore, actually our website is not updated”. The 3 of us replied in unison “AHHHHH!” like a well practiced choir LOL.

So I guess we really got what we wished for a quite…ear screaming silence LOL. Determined to have a great weekend our professional photographer took her camera out and ordered us around to pose for her…It was a new experience for me, and to be honest I had fun LOL. Though Club Fort Med lack amenities it did offer a clean and nice environment (except for the pool with mosquitoes). We still had a great time thought quite but great. I also learned a lesson during this trip and that is to be “Careful what we wish for, we might just get it.”
